To whom it may concern,
Amanda Williams has been a member
of the Stepping Stones Recreation family for 2 years as a staff member. Amanda
works as a counselor in our Saturday Kids Club program where she attends to the
needs of kids and teens with a range of disabilities. She has been in a variety
of groups during her time here, and is able to meet the needs and build strong
relationships with all of the participants that she interacts with. Her main
role has been in our youngest group of participants in the age range of 5 to
11. These participants have a variety of disabilities including but not limited
to; Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Developmental Disabilities, Learning
Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and Mental Health Disorders. I have seen her learn
and grow in her knowledge of disabilities and she possesses a great variety of skills.
Amanda
is the lead staff of her group and is able work well alongside fellow staff
members, providing direction and guidance when necessary. During the Kids Club
day, she is responsible for the well-being and safety of 8 – 12 participants in
her group. Her other responsibilities include leading countless activities,
ensuring engagement from all of her participants, and providing behavior
intervention and personal care as needed. Amanda has a unique ability to ensure
all activities are being run for her group by being a vocal and outgoing
leader. If an activity finishes early, she is the first person to get a filler
activity going to keep her participants engaged. When a new participant enters
her group, she fully immerses herself in developing strategies and supports to
make them feel more comfortable and at ease. She is definitely the type of
individual who goes the extra mile in everything that she does.
I
trust Amanda in any situation and wholeheartedly believe that she gives all
participants the appropriate amount of support while also allowing them
opportunities to gain independence and important life skills. She is an
extremely dedicated staff member and is highly reliable and organized. She is an
invaluable member of our Stepping Stones Recreation team and constantly seems
happy to be at Kids Club and is enthusiastic to assist our participants in
making new memories and experience new things.
I would highly recommend Amanda as a Special Education teacher, and
think that any school would be lucky to have her.
Thank you,
