Activity #1: Lesson 9

Objective
Students will attend to activities that apply letter-sound correspondence to the reading of words.

Materials
-        Spelling list (high-frequency words)
-        Word cards
-        Clothespins with letters

Directions
1. Review spelling list #2 with students (home, live, people, made, were, long).
2. Students will trace words, and write them on paper.
3. Students will use clothespins to spell each word

RF.35.1c Apply letter-sound knowledge to recognize high frequency words: (e.g., words used in the classroom or common classroom objects).

Assessment
Student will be able to complete spelling activities with 100% accuracy. Visual, verbal, and physical prompts may be included in evaluation.

Activity #2: Lesson 10

Objective
Students will attend to activities that apply letter-sound correspondence to the reading of words.

Materials
-        Sound cards
-        File folders
Directions
1. Present the vowel sound and letter to the student. This month the vowel is short i.

i: ink, iguana, igloo, invitation

Present the consonant sound and letter to the student. Depending on each student’s ability level, the number of letters and sounds to be taught

each month may vary.

d: day, desk, dog, door h: hat, hand, home, hamster

s: saw, sea, school, song f: fox, fan, four, finger

g: gate, game, gorilla, girl tw: two, twelve, tweet, twenty

2. Have students match words to appropriate place on file folder, corresponding with vowel or consonant.

-        Pencil

Directions
1. Read story with students
2. Answer comprehension questions

RL.35.1b Answer literal questions based on details from the text.

Assessment
Students will complete comprehension questions with 100% accuracy. Visual, verbal, and physical prompts may be included in evaluation.

Activity #4: Lesson 16

Objective
Students will solve addition and subtraction problems.

Materials
-        Worksheets
-        Manipulatives
-        Pencil

Directions
1. Complete worksheets
2. Use manipulatives if necessary

NBT.35.6c Add and subtract within 20 with ease using strategies and algorithms based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction (no calculator, but could include concrete objects).

Assessment
Students will complete addition and subtraction worksheets with 100% accuracy. Visual, verbal, and physical prompts may be included in evaluation.
